Henry Cardenas, an award winning artist, is a native of and resides in San Antonio and earned his MBA in Business Administration from St. Mary’s University. He has painted vivid landscapes and abstracts and created unusual sculptures most of his life. He creates intriguing sculptures of metal, wood, and glass or stone combinations. Some of his sculptures are oxidized metal garden features and some are interior and exterior sculptures painted with bright colors. His art inspirations started as a young child making toys.
With numerous juried competitions, Cardenas has exhibited his paintings and sculptures with winning entries in many venues, among which are: The State Fair of Texas Arts Exhibit, The Hill Country Arts Foundation, and the New Braunfels Art League. The University of Texas at San Antonio has acquired eighteen of his paintings and three mosaic glass/steel wall installations for its permanent collection. His paintings and sculptures have been collected regionally, nationally, and internationally for personal and business collections. He shares his passion for art with art patrons, fellow artists, and art friends with the art he creates, and by presenting demos of his artworks, and enjoys mentoring art appreciators.
Cardenas has been selected as one of the twelve “premiere contemporary artists in Texas” in the Texas Contemporary Artists Series, Exhibition Curator is Arturo Infante Almeida. Cardenas’ solo exhibit of paintings and sculptures was displayed at The Institute of Texan Cultures-Smithsonian Affiliate from June-October 2010. www.texancultures.com. The Carver Community Cultural Center hosted Cardenas’ comprehensive retrospective exhibit of eighty paintings and sculptures during October 2010.

As a Resident Artist of The Little Studio Gallery in La Villita, San Antonio, Texas, Cardenas maintains a continuing exhibition of his exciting paintings and unique sculptures. Cardenas also has paintings at the San Antonio Art League and Museum Gift Gallery, and sculpture in their Sculpture Garden, 130 King William Street, in the Historic District of downtown San Antonio.
Recent successful exhibits: Aldaco’s at Stone Oak; a fundraiser for the ARK (Animal Rehabilitation Keep)-University of Texas Marine Science Institute in Corpus Christi, Texas; and two exhibits at the Carver Cultural Center. Cardenas was selected for the third time to exhibit in the annual Member Invitational at the San Antonio Art League & Museum with his sculptures in November- December 2011. In March 2012, Cardenas had his ninth annual exhibit at the Santikos Bijou Cinema Bistro Gallery. He has exhibited in numerous fundraisers including the historic Lambermont Mansion in October 2012. Cardenas also exhibits in the San Antonio Medical Center area. In December 2012, Cardenas will have a solo exhibit at The Art Center of Corpus Christi where he is also the Juror for the annual exhibit in December.
