Colorado artist Steve Weed was raised under the dramatic skies of Oklahoma, Texas, and the New Mexico mountains, and was influenced early by their visual impact. At the age of 13 he knew he wanted to make his mark in life as an image maker; to permanently create and capture the unique beauty of any given moment in time.
A well-respected and established artist, Steve’s subject matter and medium is not limited to one genre or theme. A master at oil, watercolor, and charcoal, Steve’s work is recognized by a distinct brush style and impeccable color palette that captures the essence of aesthetic beauty in a given moment.
As a teen, art scholarships took young Steve to south Texas, where his talent was honed under the expert tutelage of esteemed artist Charles Field at The University of Texas in San Antonio, earning his BFA in fine art. During his early twenties, Steve studied the art of printmaking in Europe before opening his own Hill Country art gallery and frame shop.
A concurrent twenty year career in design and graphics at St. Mary’s University found him creating some of the iconic images of Fiesta San Antonio and the university.
In 2010, Steve was beckoned to return to the mountains where today he works full time from his home studio in the shadow of Pike’s Peak.
