The old frontier doctor rode or drove many lonely miles treating folks where they lived. In dugouts, cabins and shantys. Since accidents, illnesses and babies never wait for just the right time...many a patient was treated in the warm glo of candle light or at best and old kerosene lamp.
When the ole doc had taken care of folks all day, then driven half the night and spent the rest of it doctoring a patient - very often DAYS END came at sunrise. Ah don't reckon things have really changed all that much for hard working doctors 'cept maybe the long, quiet, lonely ride home. Ken Payne
